1.) The American Honey Bee Protection Agency partnered up with BAE, a military contractor site, by getting permission to place hives on their property. The company is doing this to "burnish" its image and attract young talent. They have began to planting milk weed around their land and donating to Texas by Nature, a Laura Bush Organization. Thanks to all of this, the American Honey Bee Protection Agency has been able to populate bees in more urban areas.
2.) 140 acres were dedicated to helping bees. The more bees that the AHBPA can fit into an urban area will help with teaching people about bees and their importance with pollination.
3.) The TRIGR system (Target Reconnaissance Infrared Geolocating Rangefinder) is a laser targeting device that resembles "high tech" binoculars. They make it easier for deployed war fighters to target an enemy on battlefields.
4.) There are at least 10 permanent hives on site and 20 overall in Austin. Each hive produces 60 pounds of honey.
5.) The survival of bees is important to humans because without bees, we would be missing a very large pollination source for plants. We rely on pollinators for 70 percent of food crop, which is very important not only for the people eating the food, but for the agricultural businesses growing it.
6.) I think that putting beehives on companies' properties is a very good idea and is a worthwhile "adventure" as long as they are put in places that actually need bees. I think that more urban areas should follow suit because it is important that bees have a place to stay and I also think that people should learn the benefits of bees by having them in these areas.
